The UK NPM Secretariat is hosted by HM Inspectorate of Prisons (England and Wales). Representatives from all NPM members attend an annual business meeting and communicate throughout the year about their NPM work, which follows the business plan. The NPM has a rotating Chair, appointed from one of the 21 NPM member organisations for a three year term. A Steering Group facilitates decision making for the NPM, according to the Constitution agreed by members in 2023.
